Starting a blog is never easy and it has been at least a decade since I started my personal blog so this is where I start typing and hope that it turns into something that makes sense.
I suppose a good starting point would be to say hello and introduce myself.
Hello. I’m Georgie and I can be described as many things…..Wife, mum of four (one girl and three lads), photographer, personalised gift designer/creator and theatre lover (as is my husband and all our children). My two eldest boys and I have ADHD with number three son a strong candidate for diagnosis as well. I only mention the ADHD because sometimes I can go off on a weird, convoluted tangent and need reminding to get back on track so please do forgive me if I do that in the blog at any point….just stay with me as I will reel myself in eventually.
I mentioned that we are a family who love the theatre. And when I say love I mean LOVE. My eldest wants to make the world of theatre her home and I have been involved in some shape or form since 1979 when I played Marta in Sound of Music in our local amateur dramatics production. Since then I have performed in many amateur productions. I even managed a one night performance at the Royal Albert Hall! I completed 3 years at theatre school where I realised I wanted to be involved for the love of theatre and not because I wanted to make it my living. I have dived back in on a few occasions since, both onstage and off – helping with co-directing a couple of youth theatre projects.
Nowadays I tend to go and watch the talented performers and creatives from the other side of the curtain and will often be found in the auditorium of the many amazing theatres in the East Midlands…..more often than not Curve Theatre, Leicester. Whether it be a musical (Blood Brothers will always hold a special place in my heart), a ghost story, comedy or tragedy I have pretty eclectic tastes and love the escapism that watching a performance allows.
I mentioned somewhere near the beginning that I have a personal blog and, recently, on that I wrote my first theatre review (you can see that review here) …..I mean I go often enough so why not eh?
And then the ADHD kicked in and I thought…..”I want to do a blog that is separate from my personal one….I want to do it on what I love”…..and that is the theatre so here we are.
Bear with me whilst I fathom all the design stuff out but I am sure we will tweak it as we go.
Ladies, Gentlemen and Distinguished Guests, the theatre doors are now open, please take your seats and join me as we raise the curtain on a new adventure.
